K9 Services

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office K9 Unit has been proudly serving Franklin County since 2011, ensuring safety to the staff, inmates, facility, and community. As of November 2022, the K9 Unit is being run by Lieutenant Ben Goody and his partner K9 Reno.  K9 Reno is a German Shepard, born in Slovakia on June 26, 2021.   Lieutenant Goody and K9 Reno are a Nationally certified team through the North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA), as well as, the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA).  K9 Reno is certified in all Patrol Duties and Narcotics which include: Tracking, Evidence Recovery, Apprehension, Obedience, and Narcotic Detection.   Lieutenant Goody and K9 Reno certify annually and train frequently to stay prepared for problems that arise in the communities of Franklin County. They also attend demonstrations to the public at local events, schools, and community organizations.  Lieutenant Goody and K9 Reno have been an asset to the County, have saved many people in times of need, and removed dangerous drugs out of the community.  Thanks to the support of the community,  Lieutenant Goody and K9 Reno will continue to keep our community safe for years to come!
